The tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly those in Borneo and Papua New Guinea, are among the most complex and species-rich terrestrial ecosystems in the world. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), deforestation is one of the most serious environmental problems facing Southeast Asia.
