Cambodia is about 50 percent forested. Logging has had a major impact along the international borders and in the coastal province of the Koh Kong. Though more than 20 percent of Cambodia's land area is under some form of legal conservation protection, illegal logging and cross-border log smuggling are significant problems that undermine sustainability and result in poverty for communities dependent on natural resources.
