Roads have a significant negative impact on the rainforests of the world. Roads cause destruction both directly, because trees are cut down in order to build roads, and indirectly, because roads lead to widespread development. Logging, mining, grazing, and population explosions all often follow after roads are built, and all of these activities have a devastating effect on the rainforests.
